Surya to play a Circus artist in next

Surya will play a circus artiste in his upcoming flick titled 7am Arivu, directed by A R Murugadoss of Ghajini fame. A source close to the unit confirmed the news to TOI that the star will play a trapeze artist working in a circus in the film.

Shoot on the film is currently going on at the Great Bombay Circus in Coimbatore and we hear that several locals thronged the shooting spot to watch their favourite star performing circus stunts live. A source said, “Suriya has taken his role in this film very seriously and he’ll be performing all the circus acts himself. He’ll not be using a double in the sequences. Besides his circus acts, the actor will also be doing several innovative stunts in the film.” 7am Arivu, produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin, will have Suriya and Shruti Haasan in lead roles.

The lead actor, the true professional he is, has been apparently secretly working for almost six months to get into the skin of the character. “A special trainer from the Rajkamal Circus spent several hours with him, ensuring that he gets the body language right. In fact, this trainer visited Suriya’s house almost every day to teach him the jumps and other special items that he’d be performing in the movie.” The training session has been recorded and will be shown to audiences closer to the release of the film, we hear.
And, that’s not all. Suriya, we understand, also plans to perform the circus stunts he has learnt during 7am Arivu live for his fans closer to release. “There are about five special trapeze artiste performances in the film that Suriya has already mastered,” adds the source.

Apart from these dangerous acts, the Vaaranam Aayiram star will also be doing several stunts that's bound to thrill fans. In fact, in an interview to TOI recently, the actor had said that this film will be a real treat for the audiences. “It’s a big travel, this film,” he had said, “It’s not a regular hero-heroine-villain story. We’re putting in a lot of effort in it in terms of research.”

The overseas rights of the actor’s film, that has been directed by Ram Gopal Varma, has fetched a record price...

Suriya has joined the lucrative Tamil cinema’s overseas millionaires’ club. Yes, the overseas rights of his film Ratha Sarithiram, directed by Ram Gopal Varma, has been sold for a record Rs 4.5 crore (over US $1 million)!

Suriya joins the illustrious ‘million dollar club of Tamil superstars’ which includes Rajinikanth ($2.5 million), Kamal Haasan ($1.5 million) and Vijay ($ 1 million). One of the producers of the film, Madhu Mantena, says, “Yes, we sold the overseas rights for over $1 million to a Malaysia-based company. It is the highest-ever overseas price paid for a Suriya film. The film is being simultaneously made in three languages — Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. However, this sale is purely for the Tamil film’s international rights.”

On Suriya, Mantena, who also co-produced Ghajini in Hindi, says, “Ramu says that Suriya’s eyes are deadly and there is something about him that will attract the Bollywood audiences. Mark my words, Suriya is going to click in Bollywood, and perhaps, will become the first actor from the south to make a successful crossover.”

The rights have been procured by the Malaysian company after they saw some action sequences and Suriya’s performance in the film at RGV’s office in Mumbai. “We are simply awestruck by what we saw; the power-packed action scenes are stunning. Suriya has never been seen like this before and this film is surely going to create havoc at the box office!” says a visibly excited Anand Sivam, head of the company which purchased the overseas rights.

Meanwhile, the overseas market of Tamil films is booming, as the worldwide Tamil diaspora, especially Sri Lankan Tamils, are crazy about Tamil superstars. Today, for a Tamil superstar, his huge salary depends purely on the reach he has in the overseas market. If the star is only popular in Tamil Nadu, he is not considered to be a part of the superstar league!

Suriya is fast emerging as a phenomenon in the international market. His recent Singam—a huge hit in the overseas market— figured in the top 15 in the UK box office. Ratha Sarithiram will be released in Tamil as one of Suriya’s largest releases ever. In fact, the Mumbai trade is saying that RGV and Madhu Mantena will make more money out of the Tamil version than the Hindi and Telugu versions put together!

so i like to give surya the no1 position in tamil industry

i saw the trailer of singam and it gives me the impression that this film will run for 100 days, anushka is a good pair to surya in this movie, no doubt.

waiting for the release of singam, i don't mind about the reviews about the movie, because i know even if people write - ve about the movie in the start, it will get pick up after sometime, after realizing the film.

well done surya, all the best, looking for different type of movies from you, because you are the one who can give that.
